10 Baby Shower Gift Ideas
As a mother of four, I’ve been to my fair share of baby showers, whether it was for me or for family and friends. I had four baby showers with my first child thanks to my family, work friends, and school friends. When I got pregnant with my second child I skipped a shower all together. When the third and fourth came along people asked constantly about if I was planning to have a shower for those pregnancies. I opted out because honestly, I didn’t want a bunch of diapers and wipes. I had been couponing and stock piling diapers and wipes with my latter two pregnancies so I didn’t need them.
Diapers and wipes seem to be the go to choice for gifts at baby showers, I’m guessing hugely due to their price and how much new parents need them. When Baby Cubby reached out to me about collaborating on a post I immediately accepted. We have friends that are expecting and it would be the perfect opportunity to get them a nice gift. While browsing the site I decided to share some great baby shower gift ideas besides diapers and wipes.

If you’re looking for a gift for a shower this list has something for the new baby and the expectant parents as well. So instead of walking in with diapers or wipes at the next shower gift one of these instead.
Nursery Art/Decor
Find out from the expecting parents what they are planning for their nursery theme and pick up some art or other decors to compliment the room. It’s a great way to gift a gift the new baby will have for a lifetime. Baby Cubby had a wonderful selection of canvas art from Petal Lane. I opted for a magnet board that could fit just about anywhere and with the color scheme could fit with any decor.
I really liked the water color designs by Petal Lane. Pieces like this map are perfect because they grow with the child instead of being something you get rid of after a few years.
I really love all the inspirational phrases they had on the Baby Cubby website. Affirmations are another way we build our children up, we’ve been doing them with our daughter since she was a baby. Positive affirmations like these are a great way to inspire and motivate parents and in turn baby.
Dual Purpose Baby Bag
I can’t tell you how many baby bag I’ve been through with my four kids. By baby number four I decided to go with a backpack instead of the regular baby bag and used it to also carry everything I need. It was perfect. Mom will appreciate the versatility and she’ll get lots of use out of it even after baby gets older. Baby Cubby carries Ju-Ju Be Baby Bags that offer serves a dual purpose and they are super cute.
Bamboobies
Postpartum breasts are the worst. Whether you choose to breastfed or not. I would always find myself out a few days after delivery looking for something to help soothe my breasts. When I wasn’t breastfeeding it was looking for relief from engorged breasts. When I was breastfeeding it was dealing with leaking and overflowing breasts. Bamboobies is a perfect gift for the new mom and I promise you she’ll love you for showing up with these during those postpartum days the most.
Security Blankets
Security Blankets are perfect for traveling with the baby. Once the new parents are ready to hit the world with their newborn, these will provide the right amount of protection for baby, while still being lightweight and smaller than traditional blankets. I picked these two pack from Little Unicorn because of the design. They are very high quality and guaranteed to last, so they can be saved for future children, grandchildren, or passed on to a friend or family member once the baby gets older.
4Moms Rocker
Ask any parent and they’ll tell you the most precious thing when dealing with a baby is sleep. The 4Moms MamaRoo Rocker is a lifesaver. Although the price tag is high it’s worth its weight in gold. This rocker can help you free up your hands to tackle some of your other tasks while soothing baby and helping them drift off to sleep. It’s really a great product and I’ve seen read great things about this brand and their products.
Teething Products
Teething babies can be very temperamental. One of the most difficult phases I’ve had with my kids was teething. I felt helpless as a parent because I couldn’t stop the pain. The Mama and Little Ophelia Silicone Teething Necklace is a gift for both mom and baby.
Diaper Pail
Baby diapers can be pretty stinky. Trust me you don’t want to put them in your regular trash or you’ll be emptying it quite often. A good diaper pail will save you money and keep your house from smelling like poop diapers. The Ubbi Diaper Pail uses regular trash can liners or reusable cloth liners.
Baby Carrier
Baby wearing is growing in popularity. A good baby carrier makes an ideal gift because it gives the new parents the chance to multitask. You can tackle chores while keeping baby close to you. Baby wearing is another way to bond with your child, keeping them close and protected. Every time the new parents get some work done they’ll be thanking you for your thoughtful gift.
Books
When I first found out I was pregnant with my oldest child, my husband would read to my tummy at night. He did it as a way to bond with our unborn child. I love reading so books have always been a part of our children’s lives. We have tons of books for the kids throughout the different stages in their lives. Starting with books we read to them, then they can read to us, and books they can read on their own. I loved this And Then… Volume One Story Starter Book because it allows you to create your own stories to share with your kids. What a creative and fun gift idea.
Swaddle Blankets
The first few weeks of baby’s life requires a good swaddle blanket. I’m very proud of my swaddling skills and how I’ve perfected it over the years. Swaddling helps to comfort baby by making them feel secure and warm. I picked up two different brands from Baby Cubby due to an amazing sale on their Aden + Anais products. I also added a few from Little Unicorn to match the security blankets I purchased. You can never have too many blankets because it’s almost certain you’ll lose a few as time goes on. I’ve left blankets at the doctor’s office, while visiting family and friends, or just running errands.
Swaddle blankets are needed in the hospital bag, the regular baby bag, in the car, and at home. I always keep at least two or three with me because you never know when one will get dirty. They can be passed on to family and friends if they don’t get stains or donated to a local shelter.
