Six Donation Ideas for Teachers
Schools are always in need of small donation for items that we use daily. Every year my kids come home with a list of items that their teachers suggest as donations. Since the items are usually the same each year I wanted to share some of those ideas with my readers. Here’s six donation ideas for teachers.
1. Hand Soap
Kids touch hundreds of surfaces each day, and being around other kids opens them up to more germs. They are touching desks, door handles, playground equipment, and more. Hand soap is perfect to help kids keep their hands clean. Softsoap® Brand has foaming hand soaps featuring children favorite characters like Frozen and Star Wars©.
These hand soaps features a wide pump that’s easy for kids to use, and the soap instantly turns into foam once it leaves the pump. Each collection has three different character bottles. Frozen bottles include: Elsa, Ana & Elsa, and Olaf. Star Wars bottles include: Yoda, R2D2, and Darth Vader. Prices vary based on retailer and location. You can purchase these at a local retailer.
2. Hand Sanitizer
Hand Sanitizer is just as important as hand soap for teachers. It’s a quick solution for cleaning hands in the classroom, on the playground, during field trips, and on bus rides. Hand sanitizer is great during cold and flu season to help kill germs. Recently PURELL® introduced their naturals line of sanitizer products.
PURELL Naturals offers the same protection and effectiveness of their other products and is formulated with naturally derived ingredients. This EdoLogo and USDA Biobased certified product is made from plant-based alcohol and naturally fragranced using essential oils. An 8 oz bottle costs about $2.99 and is available at national retailers.
3. Bandages
All parents know that a hefty supply of bandages is an absolute must when you have kids. When my kids get a scratch or cut, no matter how big or small they require bandages. I try to hide how many we have because if they know we have them they seem to want them more. I like sending a box to school just in case of a minor injury at school, like a cut or scratch on the playground. Schools have nurses for any kind of injury, but my kids usually use several bandages. Instead of repeat trips to the nurse, their teacher can give them one to refresh their bandage.
4. Post-it® Brand Products
Kids are always brining home notes and papers from school with information from their teachers. Quite often those papers have reminders to either the students or parents on Post-it® notes. These can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom as well.
Post-it® Brand even offers unique dispensers for their products. This year they added the Camera and Polka-Dot Purse dispenser. These make fun and creative gift ideas for teacher baskets and donations for teachers.
5. Sandwich and Storage Bags
Our five year old has special needs, and this year he’s been working on potty training. We always make sure he has a change of clothes at school in a zipper storage bag in case of accidents or emergencies. Sandwich bags and zipper storage bags are perfect donations for teachers because they have multiple uses. We’ve seen them used for reward prizes, returning wet or dirty clothes home, boxtops collection, and more. Since there are different sizes, you can choose which you think would work best for your child’s teacher.
6. Pencils, Crayons, Glue Sticks & Other Supplies
Most teachers spend their own money providing supplies to their class throughout the year. Sometimes it starts from the first day of school. While shopping for your child’s school supplies, consider picking up some extras for the teacher. Pencils go fast in most classrooms, they easily get lost or broken. We are constantly replacing them for our kids at home so I know they go through a lot at school. The same goes for crayons and glue stick for younger kids. Small supplies like these really help teachers and students during the school year.
