Politics, The Cat in the Hat, and the Magic of Carnival Cruise Lines
This weekend my family and I experienced a first for us, we had the opportunity to spend time aboard the Carnival Pride which sails from the Port of Baltimore. If you were following on social media, my husband and I shared some great photos of our time aboard the ship and all the fun we had with our family. Thanks to Carnival for hosting us aboard the Carnival Pride for this special Cat in the Hat Breakfast Event.
We had arrived at the Port of Baltimore hoping to beat cruise traffic but ended up getting stuck for a bit. People were already arriving for their cruise that was scheduled to depart at 4:30 PM that afternoon. We had a brief experience of the whole boarding process for a cruise, and that really made it feel so official for us. The boarding process was a breeze once we got started and we were on the ship before we knew it.
We attending a “press conference” where The Cat in the Hat announced his presidential candidacy and introduced us to his running mates for VP – Thing One and Thing Two. While we waited for the announcement the Carnival crew served up some delicious appitizers for us to enjoy before our short parade around the Carnival Pride. As you can see my family loved all the goodies. They couldn’t wait to chow down.
After a short parade around the ship we headed to one of the dining rooms aboard the Carnival Pride for the Cat in the Hat Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast. All the decor had Cat in the Hat theme and looked quite fun and inviting.
I loved all the fun decorations on the table because it really made you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the breakfast. The kids were super excited about attending and seeing all the cool decor on the ship.
There was even a fun menu just for the kids to choose all kinds of Cat in the Hat inspired breakfast options including Green Eggs and Ham of course. The parents had a separate menu in case we wanted to order something different that what was served on the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast menu.
While waiting for our drinks and food we saw a table full of delicious treats. These yogurt parfait looked too beautiful to eat. There were two different options a strawberry yogurt parfait and one with oats, fruit, and chocolate chips.
I opted for the strawberry yogurt parfait and it was so good. You could hardly taste any of yogurt. The kids event gave it a try, my daughter loved it the most. I wish I was eating one of these right now. It was so good.
We ordered our food and waited for it to arrive. Carnival provided coloring sheets for the kids to keep busy and us parents posted our favorite photographs on social media.
The kids choose these colorful pancakes and of course the Green Eggs and Ham for their breakfast. My two oldest enjoyed the macaroon that was a bonus on the plate as well. They ate all their food so quickly it was gone before we knew it.
I picked the salmon for brunch and it was simply delicious. It was cooked to perfection and left me wanting more of the mashed potatoes on top and the homemade potato chips. It was so light but filling, so I didn’t feel overstuffed.
While we were eating some of the Carnival crew entertained us while Cat in the Hat themed music played in the background. We saw our server in the line up. She really made the kids laugh and enjoy themselves.
After brunch the Cat in the Hat and some of his friends came around to take photos with the families, they even gave us stamped autographs from the characters on a special booklet. Each of the kids got one of their own.
We were invited aboard the Carnival Pride to celebrate the release of the Cat in the Hat’s new book, “One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote”. The book teaches kids about the election process and the importance of voting.
Each of the kids received a swag pack with a patriotic themed hat and the new Cat in the Hat book One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote. We read ours on the ship and the kids took it to school to share with friends. If you’re interested in purchase the book check local stores or the link below.
If you’re heading on a Carnival cruise from now through November be sure to check to see if your ship has the Cat in the Hat campaign event and get your kids involved in all the fun. You can participate in the parade as a part of your cruise ticket.
Carnival cruise guests can participate in the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast aboard several cruise ships. If you’re planning a cruise be sure to check to see if it’s offered on the ship you’re sailing on. The cost is $5 per person, you can ask about the breakfast once on board your cruise ship.
We’ve never been on a cruise before but we’re planning to travel aboard the Carnival Magic next year. We can’t wait to head on our first cruise. Have you even cruised Carnival before?
