Enjoy Hershey At Christmas Time
It may be getting cold outside but the fun hasn’t stopped at Hersheypark in Hershey, PA. My family and I were invited to the opening night of Hersheypark Christmas Candylane in mid November for the media night. We have always loved visiting Hersheypark but until this year we’d only visited in early October. So far this year we’ve been at least six times and I do hope we get to visit again before the year is over.
We walked in and was greeted by Santa Claus. We had hoped to get the kids holiday picture taken that night but as you can see it didn’t quite work out well. This was the best shot of the bunch.
J.B. didn’t want to get neat Santa at all. So he took a stance as close to the nearest exit as possible. Mason kept wanted to run to the Hershey Bar Mascot (photos to come). He’s obsessed with those mascots.
And away Mason went, so we didn’t get a good shot for the Christmas card. I’m sure if you have kids you’ve been there done that.
We grabbed a seat in the back after Mason had hogged up all the mascot’s time while we were coming in. Did I mention how much he loves the mascot. I have the best live photo of his dancing with one this past October.
The menu looked great. It was filled with all kinds of delicious eats and treats. My favorite was the Vermont Mac & Cheese, my husband loved the Roast Turkey with Apple & Cranberry Chutney with Creamy Mashed Potatoes and gravy.
After dinner we headed into the park for a quick stroll. It was very cold and windy that night and since hubby and I weren’t dressed for the night we decided to head to Hershey Sweet Lights instead so we could enjoy the lights in the warm car.
I should note that finding Sweet Lights was not as easy as we thought. We were following the signs and it seemed like we were in a scary movie. At least that’s how I described it to my husband. The road was long when we were trying to find it. I think because it was our first time. It was dark and we barely saw any cars passing by. Stay the course and once your find it you’ll be happy you didn’t turn around. We almost did because we thought we were lost. We pulled up and stopped at the gate. The kids got special paper glasses to see snowflakes from the lights and we started down the road.
I tried to get good pictures from the car while it was moving so some are blurry or out of focus but they had lots of beautiful displays along the ride for Sweet Lights.
I loved how much they incorporated elements from Hersheypark into all the displays we saw at Sweet Lights.
The 12 Days of Christmas display was so creative it will have you singing and trying to spot all the references from the song in the display.
We took our time driving through the Sweet Lights display. There was so much to see and the kids were so excited about seeing all the different lights. It was more fun that we imagined especially with the glasses.
Hershey Sweet Lights is open daily from 5 – 9 PM with longer hours on the weekend. It costs $19.15 Sun – Thur for a passanger car that holds up to 8 people and $24.15 on Fri – Sat. Visit Hersheypark for Christmas Candy Lane for hours of family fun. The park is open daily starting on December, 11th and on weekends from November 13th – December 6th. Hours vary each day.
