Date night is a rarity in our house, with four children eight and under and one with special needs it’s not easy to find the time for just my husband and I. I’m not sure when it happened but somewhere along the line I started to get anxious about leaving our children. I know that dating is key to any successful relationship so I’ve come up with some tips for an enjoyable and stress free date night.
Schedule
The first step in planning a good date night is scheduling, for us timing is everything. We can’t just pick up and head out for a date, not with the kids. The first steps for us is securing child care for the kids. If you have children securing child care is probably high on your list as well. Once we’ve gotten child care squared away next step is finding something we both can enjoy.
Choose
When you can plan a date night choosing something both you and your partner will enjoy is key. I like when my husband does the planning because I don’t like to choose places to eat. Oddly enough I am a picky eater and he isn’t so it would be easier for me to choose but letting him choose makes me feel even more special. There are so many great options for a great date night like attending a concert, dinner at a nice restaurant, cooking a nice meal at home for you both to enjoy, a long walk, ice-cream at the local shop, a lovely dinner cruise or just catch a new movie in theaters. It can be whatever you choose as long as it’s something both people will like.
Prepare
Preparation is key to everything in life including date nights at least it is in our house. That’s why I like to be prepared for anything. With four children you never know what can take down the best made plans. I recently headed out to Walmart to stock up on some date night essentials for me. Included in my purchase was Emergen-C, ChapStick Total Hydration and Advil Tablet Vial.
Each of these items help make sure that date night goes well. Emergen-C is a must have when you have kids. The kids bring home all kinds of germs from school and from playing. I was excited about Emergen-C Immune Plus Chewables because I like chewables better. It’s fast and easy to take. With over 20 varieties of vitamin supplement drink mixes, Emergen-C offers the formula, flavor, fix, and FUN you’re looking for!
I always make sure I have Advil on hand for when a headache tries to sneak up on me. These tablet vials are the perfect size and can fit into any little date night purse. Nothing’s stronger, longer lasting or better on your tough aches and pains than Advil, and nothing works on more pains than Advil (among OTC pain relievers). ChapStick of course keeps my lips soft and kissable before, during and after date night. ChapStick Total Hydration is 100% natural, and it’s advanced nourishing formula includes argan oil and avocado butter and rosehip oil.
Enjoy
Now that you have done everything to get ready for date night the last step is enjoying the night you planned. I always worry about the kids when I’m not with them. Even on date night I find myself wanting to call and check in on them. I’ve learned to stop stressing now that they are getting older. My phone is always turned on and near by in case of an emergency but I only call when we are on our way back to pick them up. It makes for a more enjoyable date with hubby.
