Family Dining on the Road at Denny’s
Last month we took a mini family vacation to Hershey, PA to visit the sweetest place on earth – Hersheypark! It was a last-minute trip and because it was last-minute we ended up having to stay in Harrisburg because everything was booked in Hershey. Any family road trip for us has to include a place to eat and with kids that are picky eaters we try to stick with what’s familiar. On this trip we decided to stop at Denny’s to see what they had new to their summer menu.
Thanks to Denny’s for providing us with gift cards to help facilitate this post, any opinions expressed are my own.
Denny’s has a lot to offer making it perfect for the summer – Kids Eat Free nights (Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.); $2,4,6,8 value menus; a partnership with a great summer blockbuster, Fantastic Four; Fit Fare’s light dishes for healthier summer eating and more than 1,600 locations in every state makes it the perfect dependable pit stop for vacations and road trips.
The kids were excited when they opened their menus to find games and activities from spring and summer hits like Home and Mr Peabody & Sherman. They like to fill these out while waiting for their food to arrive.
The Denny’s we visited wasn’t busy so it didn’t take long for our server to take our orders and put the food. We didn’t have to wait to be seated either. Time is valuable when traveling so we wanted to dine at a place with fast service. Waiting to be seated and waiting long periods of time for food was not in our agenda. Thanks to Denny’s we were in and out in no time.
All of us wanted to try something different, our kindergartener and my daughter ordered the nuggets and fries. They are usually the hardest to please when it comes to finding food to eat. Since my son has special needs he has sensory issues with food, these classics are perfect for them both.
Our oldest son ordered a cheeseburger and fries. He’s starting to get a bigger appetite so a few nuggets and fries wouldn’t have been enough for him. I was surprised at how big this kids sized burger was. He ate it all and even had some of my husband’s food as well.
I decided to try a burger on the Fantastic Four menu, it was a burger with a fried egg on top. I’ve wanted to try a burger with an egg on top for a while but never did until that day and it was delicious. I can’t believe that I waited that long to try a burger this way before. My burger also had bacon and hash browns. I am definitely going back to have this burger again before they remove it from the menu.
My husband ended up with breakfast food. He picked the French Toast Breakfast Meal with strawberries and cream cheese frosting added to the french toast. It was delicious. I wanted his food as soon as it hit the table but mines was just as delicious. He ate all his food, except for the portion he shared with our oldest son.
