Summer Fun & Pretend Play with Just Pretend Kids
I have just one princess. She’s our only daughter and she just loves to play dress up. Recently the folks at Just Pretend Kids reached out to me about reviewing one of their items on my blog. Of course I was excited and couldn’t wait for my daughter to review it and share her thoughts.
I didn’t let me daughter choose a costume from the site. I know she would probably want it all. They have lots of amazing options for fairies, princesses, ballerinas and more. I saw a beautiful Mermaid Costume and knew she would love it because she loves Ariel. She received it for her birthday and I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the costume packaging but it arrived in the box. The costume came in a clean garment bag – the bag had a light pink steam around the bag. It was hung on a pink hanger and the costume in the bag was folded and wrapped in white wrapping paper. That’s better than any other costume we have purchased in the past. We usually get the ones in the toy store that comes with a paper hanger. The packaging along was enough to make me really take notice of Just Pretend Kids. As you can see from the photos above the front of the costume is very pretty and detailed. The sequins were sown in securely and the glitter stayed on the costume and wasn’t constantly dropping all over the floor. I should note that I ordered the Size 6 because my daughter wears 6/7 and it was shorter than it looked in the photo on the website. I am not sure if the Size 8 would have fit better I think it would be too big. The site does feature a sizing chart when shopping.
The back of the costume also features a lot of details and it has a velvet backing. The shoulders is made like regular sleeves instead of straps so the costume is much more durable and built to last the play dates. This costume also features a ruffle sleeve that adds even more details.
The bottom ruffles are nice and thick, when the costume arrives because it’s been folded and sitting in a bag you do have to fluff up the ruffles at little but it only takes a few seconds. I highly recommend hanging up the costume as soon as it arrives so the ruffles and everything falls right into place. These ruffles also feature glitter but again it’s larger pieces of glitter and they stick to the costume and don’t drop off constantly. Overall the costume was a great product. Much better than other dress up costumes we have purchased our daughter in the past. Also as a side note, this is still a children’s costume meant for play so while it’s made very durable and it does feature some great details, it is delicate and does requires some TLC when playing with it. I just reminded my daughter of this when she took it out to play. She was pulling on the costume and I was worried about her ripping it. She’s been playing dress up with it for about three weeks now and it’s been great. She loves it. She said she likes that it doesn’t make her itch and that it has lots of pretty ruffles. She loves being a mermaid.
