My Thoughts
I remember one day having heart to heart with my husband and he asked me was I happy. The question seemed silly at the time and I said yes of course I am happy. I didn’t put any thought into the question at all and then slowly my actions started to show something very different from the words I said to him. The problem for me was reconciling happiness with love. I thought if I said I wasn’t happy about something it would mean that my love would be questioned. Now I understand and know better. If I am not happy then he’s not going to be happy either. It spills over into my relationship with my kids and it’s something I’ve worked on since that day. When I got the book Making Happy to review I was much happier than I was in the past but I still wanted to explore the book and see what the Parrotts had to share about having a happy marriage. I was surprised by all the amazing things I’ve been reading in the book. I really loved how they broken down the art and science to happiness in your marriage through the six happiness boosters. Honestly these are things I already knew but I didn’t know how to apply them all to my marriage. Like laughing out loud. I love when my husband makes me laugh, it’s the sexiest thing he can ever do. It means he did something to make me just completely forget everything and laugh, and laugh loudly.
Another factor in the book was celebrating daily. I know we don’t celebrate much and when life has us down it’s hard to celebrate anything at all when in reality we always have something to celebrate. It doesn’t matter how small or simple it may seem, it’s worth celebrating. And celebration is not about a big shebang it’s just about acknowledgement. Even if it’s with just a small note or card. This book is a great resource for all married couples whether you’ve been married for a year or twenty. It’s a must have on all couples bookshelves because both men and women can benefit from the book. So if you’re having problems in your marriage or your working to just enhance your marriage pick up this book and give it a try. After reading the book you’ll get a three-week plan to making happy and bringing happiness to your spouse which in turn will bring happiness to you.
