One Touch Viewing with Logitech Harmony from Best Buy

I love all the advances that technology brings into our lives today.  I was in the market for a new keyboard and I really wanted to find a wireless option because my toddler pulls on the cord often, with a wireless keyboard I can put it away when not in use so he doesn’t have easy access to the keyboard.  I had to opportunity to review the Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard as a part of the Best Buy WOLF program and I have to say that it’s been a great experience thus far.  First I will say that setting up the keyboard was a breeze.  It does require you to have a Wifi connection and with a smartphone you get ever more control right at your finger tips.

When the keyboard arrived I took out the manual and read the simple steps to get me connected and set up to use the device.  There is a walkthrough and product introduction and then you are taken to the steps to connect.

I choose to use the app to set up my Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard but you can also visit setup.myharmony.com on a compute to connect the hub to your wifi network.  If your computer is Bluetooth compatible then you can pair the hub and your computer that way.  Mines wasn’t so I just used one of the USB receivers that was included in my kit.

This smart keyboard systems connects you in so many ways.  I  can put away so many of my controllers and just use the keyboard and my cell phone app.  I programed the three smart buttons on the top of my keyboard to turn in to the television, watch out Roku and to watch the Blu Ray player.  I can also program additional devices simply by pressing the buttons longer to toggle between choices. I can use the app to add up to eight different devices.  The hub can connect up to three bluetooth enabled devices such as Apple TV, PS3, Macs and some PCs.  Smart TVs are also perfect to use with the smart keyboard.  There is no number pad on the keyboard it’s replaced with a touchpad that can be used as a mouse when on my computer, but also doubles as a control features for browsing when using with devices like Apple TV and Roku.

My keyboard also navigates my DVR, controls volume on my television and play back media.  So I can play, pause, rewind and fastforward live television like I would with my cable remote control.  Harmony supports over 5000 brands and 225,000 devices, it’s easy to check the compatibility online or when setting up your devices all you need is the manufacturer’s name and the model number.  The app helps you program the device through a series of prompts to get your device connected on the app.  The app is available for both iOS and Andriod devices.
