5 Top Attractions for a Visit to the UK

The United Kingdom might be a little small in size, but it certainly makes up for it in fantastic attractions, which you can be found across all corners of the nation. It offers everything from incredible historical sites and interesting museums to family-friendly attractions and jaw-dropping entertainment. If you are planning a visit in the near or distant future, here are the five top attractions for a visit to the UK.

1. Stonehenge

Located 10 miles north of Salisbury is Stonehenge, which is a prehistoric monument that comprises of a ring of standing stones. Every stone is approximately 13 feet high and 7 feet wide, and the reason for its erection is still unknown. Due to the site’s popularity, you must purchase a ticket in advance to be guaranteed an entry.

The visitor center also features audio-visual exhibitions that tell the story of the 250 ancient objects and life during this time. You also can take a walk around the mysterious stones, but you can only gain access into the circle by reserving a special morning or late evening access via English Heritage.

2. London’s West End

Only the world’s finest plays and musicals will be found on the West End stages in London. Approximately 40 theaters can be found within the theater district, so there will be a show to complement your taste. For example, if you are traveling with kids, you can take your pick from many superb children’s shows London.

3. Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle, which is perfectly positioned at the top of the volcanic Castle Rock, is one of the most famous landmarks in the UK. It once served as the home of many great kings and queens, such as King Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots.

It now houses the Scottish Crown Jewels and the “Stone of Destiny.” In addition to stepping inside the fortified walls to explore the castle and its grounds, you should also visit at one o’clock to hear the gun fired. Don’t forget your camera!

4. Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo is the most visited attraction in the UK outside of London, and you can find it in Upton, which is only a mile north of Chester’s city center. The 125-acre site is home to more than 11,000 animals from over 400 species. You can also explore the zoo’s ground on its monorail system, visit the penguin pool, and could take a stroll through its prizewinning landscaped gardens.

5. Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle isn’t any ordinary castle, as it is the ultimate attraction for families of all ages and sizes. You will find this stunning landmark in the city of Warwick, and it will provide both the young and old with an insight into medieval life. To help spark visitors’ imagination, the incredible 900-year-old fortress features medieval themed reenactments and events, such as fairs, concerts, and jousting festivals. It is a family-friendly attraction you will not want to miss when visiting the UK.
