10 Hersheypark Attractions for Children Ten and Under
My family and I love Hersheypark, since attending my first press trip last year we’ve been several times, and each time we are reminded of why we love it so much. Traveling with young children isn’t easy, and being at an amusement park has additional challenges. When you think of Hersheypark you probably haven’t thought about how great it is for families with children ten and under.
One of our favorite things about visiting Hersheypark is the character Meet & Greet. Every time we’ve been in the park we have encountered characters. They are always walking around the park, happy to interact with guests, and the kids just love them.
The great thing about Hersheypark is that they make it easy for you to see where you kids measure up and what rides they are able to right based on their height. It’s a lot easier than walking to the front of the line and hoping you can ride, only to get turned away. Here’s my list of our favorite 10 Hersheypark Attractions for Children.
Dizzy Drums – Hershey and below
This ride is for children only, it’s a low speed gentle ride. The ride is located in the Founder’s Way area of the park and open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Convoy – Twizzlers and under
Convoy is a children’s ride only, however riders in the Hershey’s Miniatures section must ride with a companion. Those smaller children can ride with an older sibling or relative. Convoy is a slow paced ride in the Kissing Tower Hill area, and it’s open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Dizzy Bees – Hershey’s and under
Dizzy Bees is a ride for children only, this gentle ride in the Founders Way area is fun, and kids can even push a button in their car to make a buzzing sound. The ride is open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Lady Bug – Twizzlers and under
Lady Bug is a mild coaster ride, and riders in the Hershey’s Minatures category need to ride with a supervising companion. Adults are allowed to ride with children. This ride is located in the Founders Way area, and open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Swing Thing – Hershey’s through Hershey’s Kisses
Swing Thing is a kids version of the swings. Hersheypark also has a version for older kids called Wave Swinger, and Frontier Flyers can accommodate both kids and adults. Both Wave Swinger and Frontier Flyers have different ride heights that Swing Thing. This is a gentle ride, located in the Founders Way section of the park, and it’s open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Cocoa Cruiser – Jolly Rancher through Hershey Kisses
Cocoa Cruiser is a fun roller coaster for kids that are closer to ten. This ride is a moderate thrill ride with some bumps, twists, and turns. It requires riders to have upper body control, so even if your child is tall enough I suggest checking out a run, before putting them in line. Children in the Kisses category must ride with a companion, and this ride does allow adults to ride with younger riders. Cocoa Cruiser is located in the Founders Way area, and it’s open in Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Dry Gulch Railroad – Jolly Rancher and under
No trip to Hersheypark for our family without a ride on Dry Gulch Railroad. This miniature reproduction of a 19th century steam-powered railway takes guests on a journey through the Pioneer Frontier area of Hersheypark. Children in the Hershey’s Miniatures category must ride with a supervising companion. No matter how many times we ride the train we are always happy to ride around the Pioneer Frontier area of the park. This mild thrill ride is open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Monorail – Jolly Rancher and under
The Monorail is an elevated monorail which offers riders a round-trip audio tour while viewing Hersheypark, ZooAmerica, and downtown Hershey. This is another ride we must get on every time we visit the park. Our favorite part is when we get over to zoo, we try to spot all the animals that are out in their habitats. If you’re looking to relax for a bit, the Monorail is a mild thrill ride located in the Founders Way area of the park, it’s open during Springtime, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.
Hersheypark has over 20 rides designed for children, plus additional family rides, water rides, and coaster for children as they get older.
