Who’s My Doppelganger?

I have that admit when I saw Who’s My Doppelganger as the prompt for today I wasn’t sure what it was so off to Wiki I when.  When I first started reading the post I was a little scared because it said:

In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger (German, literally a “double goer”) (pronounced[ˈdɔpəlˌɡɛŋɐ] ( listen)) is a paranormal double of a living person.

It also describes the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection.

Doppelgängers often are perceived as a sinister form of bilocation and are regarded by some to be harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelgänger seen by a person’s friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one’s own doppelgänger is said to be an omen of death.

So yeah of course I was freaking out like I don’t know what that is and if that’s the case I surely don’t want to met them.  Well I continued to read and it also said:

In the contemporary vernacular of some English speakers, the word may be found used simplistically to identify any look-alike of a person, without regard to the supernaturalness and fundamental doubling intended in the meaning of the word.

So I decided to go with the latter.  No need to scare myself silly, right?  I hope I don’t have nightmares tonight. :( Back on the subject of my doppelganger, I have to say when I was younger and in Secondary School in Trinidad my teachers would all ask me about this girl at the school and refer to her as my sister.  Since my older sister had attended the school before me I naturally assumed they were talking about her.  It wasn’t until one day a teacher said to me “Oh you just missed your sister”, I was surprised since she was supposed to be in school and didn’t mention to me she was going to be dropping in.  So I asked my teacher was she looking for me and she said no.  I thought it was odd.  So when I asked my sister about it she said she was not at the school.  The next day another teacher said the same thing and so I asked my teacher where did she go.  I followed his directions and there I was standing face to face with a girl that looked just like me only a little older but we were not related at all.  I wish I remembered her name but people called us sisters for that whole year almost before we finally met and realized just how much we looked alike.

My best friend’s mother on the other hand would swear I looked like Brandy.  I don’t see it but she says so.

I still don’t think we look alike at all.  Maybe if I could find a picture of her without makeup.  What about you do you have a look-alike?

Looking at the bottom half of your face {from the nose down}, I DEFINITELY see the Brandy resemblence. You have basically the same nose, smile and chin. Good job! Didn’t mean to scare you on the Doppelganger prompt :)

I would say your mom’s friend is right! I agree with the above comment from the nose down and I would even go one further to say if you mimicked her makeup you would be a dead ringer!

I can see somewhat that you could look alike! I have been told I look similar to Sandra Bullock.. LOL I would love that. I think at times we could look a bit alike!

I see it in the eyes and chin, for sure! I haven’t seen my doppleganger yet, but have seen them of friends and it can be uncanny. In one case just the hair color was different!
