Godmothered Available Now on Disney Plus

December 5, 2020 By Nickida

This year has been one of those years where we all need a Fairy Godmother. I know I need one badly. There’s so many great things she could do for me right now to make the holiday even more special. I had the opportunity to get an early screening of the new Disney Plus original ‘Godmothered’ and I have to say it was a filled with just the right amount of magic to remind us that even when we’re not looking there’s a little bit of magic right where you need it.

This film is set around the holiday so it makes it another holiday film we can all enjoy. If you’re not a holiday person then focus on the magic and fairies that’s centered in the film. Eleanor is training to become a Fairy Godmother but the Motherland is in danger. She’s excited and determined to show that humans still need fairies and to do that she finds a letter from who she thinks is a little girl, and she goes to earth to help her wish come true.

This film has some of everything to make it another live-action film of our favorite animated classics. The woman who needs help, her Fairy Godmother, and even a handsome prince. Well at least that’s who Cabrera’s character portrays. Isla Fisher’s character has a crush on him but she’s afraid to give love a chance. As a single mother of two she’s worried about getting her heart broken again.

Eleanor knows very little about magic but she’s determined to help McKenzie find everything her heart desires. Her determination and hard work is one of the best parts of the movie to me. Although she doesn’t know all the spells she’s working hard to make sure all the fairies know they are needed.

You can check out the trailer above and get a small sneak peak at the movie. I think this is a great family movie to enjoy during a family movie night if you have one of those weekly. If you’re looking for a film, I recommend adding this one to the list.

About Godmothered

Set at Christmas time, “Godmothered” is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell) who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “Happily Ever After,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.

There are some hidden gems inside this film that I really enjoyed. Eleanor gets animals to help clean McKenzie’s house, she helps her daughter get over stage fright and so many more I you’ll see when you watch the movie on your own. ‘Godmothered’ is available right now on Disney Plus. It’s a great film to add to your watch list for the weekend or the upcoming week. You can also catch some other holiday classics on Disney Plus as well but this family original film should be at the top of your list for sure.
