5 Reasons why Attending UC Irvine Makes Perfect Sense

April 24, 2020 By Nickida

Settling on a university is one of the biggest decisions you’ll face in your lifetime. It will dictate both your professional and personal future, so making the right choice is essential.

If you have been looking at educational facilities in California, you’ll no doubt have read all about the University of California, Irvine. Yet is it the right place for you to call home for the next four years?

To help with answering that question, here are five reasons why attending UC Irvine makes perfect sense:

You Receive a First-Rate Education

Above all, you can be reassured that UC Irvine delivers a high-quality education. The 2020 “Best Colleges” list produced by U.S. News & World Report deemed UCI one of the nation’s top 10 public universities. This marked the fifth year in a row that UCI achieved this feat.

In general, UCI delivers a comprehensive, well-rounded education for students. As it’s a research school, you will be learning directly from experienced professors. This gives you the chance to draw on first-hand experience and benefit from educational opportunities beyond the norm.

It’s not Impossible to be Accepted

When considering the level of education on offer, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it would be a nightmare to get accepted by the college.

However, if you view the UC Irvine acceptance rate and UC Irvine admission requirements at CampusReel, you’ll realize that simply isn’t the case. Based on 2018 statistics, almost 40% of students had their applications accepted.

Sure, it’s not the 100% acceptance rate that other colleges provide. However, it’s a clear gateway for those willing to put in the work to meet admission standards.

At the Forefront of Sustainability

As a state, California is one of the most progressive in the country when it comes to green initiatives and being eco-friendly. Well, this has clearly rubbed off on UCI, as it is recognized as one of the best universities in the country for sustainability.

In fact, UCI is just one of four universities in North America to be awarded a Platinum award by The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS).

Food, Glorious Food

Whether it’s on-site or in the nearby area, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to food. UCI has excellent meal plans for those who dorm, while there are multiple local eateries and well-known chains dotted around campus.

As for California itself, it is a known foodie hotspot. Due to its diverse cultural heritage, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – from traditional American fare to upmarket Chinese cuisine.

The Location

Thanks to being situated in Southern California, UC Irvine boasts an enviable location for sunny fun, beautiful coastlines, and stunning mountain regions to explore.

Aside from its natural advantages, UCI’s location also works in other ways. For instance, the college isn’t positioned in an area that is too mundane and quiet, yet it’s also not too urbanized and busy – rather, it’s the perfect mix of both peaceful and interesting. Also, don’t overlook the fact the college is situated in one of the state’s safest cities.
