I love writing prompts they get the creative juices flowing and helps you share with different ideas you may not think about on your own. This is my first time linking up with Cheap Is The New Classy for their #moreclassywriting prompts. Today the topic is Who is your favorite male actor?
This is a very easy one for me. I know a lot of people will have names like George Clooney, Bruce Willis, Denzel and actors like that. For me it’s always been Laurence Fishburne. I just love his acting. The first time I remember seeing him was an old movie when he was younger and I’ve liked his acting style since. He was great in the Matrix and has also done some directing. He has work credits in film, stage and television. The only role I didn’t like was his portrayal of Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It. I just couldn’t get with his being such an abusive man. I later read that he turned down the role several times until they made changes to made him more comfortable with the role. He was the first black actor to play Othello on the stage and still continues to make great strides in acting.
He is currently married and has three children. You may have heard about his daughter Montana Fishburne staring in an adult film, which caused him to allegedly cut ties with her. He also has a new television show coming out this April called Hannibal on the NBC network.

I had to read Othello in college and I must admit, I have never really been a fan of Shakespeare just because it is so difficult for me to understand. However, I also watched the movie with Laurence Fishburne and I LOVED IT! Othello is an awesome story.
I agree, Laurence Fishburne is an awesome actor. Good choice!

Interesting topic! For me it has always been Sean Connery, I am young but this man has always carried a class of sophistication and always looked so distinguished.

He is very distinguished.
I don’t have a favorite all time actor, but Sean Connery was probably the first actor I really liked. I agree with Melissa he has a “class” and an air about him that just sets him appart. I’ve always liked Daniel Day-Lewis, he is an amazing actor . He is intense and committed to his films and I really respect the fact that he chooses his projects very carefully and only stars in films he truly believes, that must be why they are all unforgettable works of art from My Left Foot to In The Name of the Father (awesome movie) to The Last of The Mohicans (my favorite movie that he’s been on and he looked amazing). I haven’t even seen Lincoln yet and can’t wait for it to come out in DVD so we can watch it at home (going to the movies when you have little ones is just tough). Other actors I also like and admire for their work are Ralph Fiennes and Edward Norton.

Very good choice! There are so many actors that are amazing but don’t get enough recognition. Laurence is definitely one of them.

I remember seeing him in PeeWee’s Playhouse in my teens! And later in a small part in my all-time favorite movie The Color Purple.

I’m a huge fan of The Matrix and Laurence Fishburne was fantastic as Morpheus! I love so many movies he’s been in, from old ones like Boyz n the Hood and School Daze to his more recent work.
