I’ve blogged before about wanting to introduce my children to foreign languages because I feel its very valuable and important for their development. We got a chance to review a Little Pim digital download. We got Little Pim Chinese on my iPad so the kids could watch it when we are in the car or when they are home and just relaxing. My first piece of advice is to get something that works well with your children. I think my kids would watch a DVD longer but my toddler prefers spending time on the electronics. That’s the good thing about Little Pim they offer their products on DVD or digital download.
The concept of the program is so simple and easy. They break down each segment into five minute episodes to keep the kids attention span. All their language products aim to introduce 360 words to your child. The program is designed to help your kids commit them to memory and use them in their every day life. I watched the episodes first and picked the ones I wanted to start working on with my kids. Right now we are working on the bedtime routine. To help your child learn the language they show children speaking in the language you choose for your dvd/digital download. In our case Chinese. The kids are speaking in Chinese about the things they are doing. They ask their parents questions and have conversations in Chinese. When they introduce the name of an item they highlight that item and say the word so your child knows what the word means.
My children have loved learning the chinese words for some of the things during their night time routine and words for getting dressed. I try to replay the episodes so they get repetition of the same words and phrases. Soon they will start remember them and hopefully start using them. Since I am watching and learning as well it helps them with conversation. If you’re interested in learning more about this program find out how below.

This sounds like a neat way to teach kids a language–something that is appealing too, which I’m sure makes a huge difference (I’ve never even tried!)
